How to Earn More as a Freelance Designer
Increase Your Earning Potential as a Freelance Designer: Here's How!
No one wants to live out the starving artist stereotype. In this email, we’ll discuss some of the best ways to earn more money as a freelance designer.
The Basics of Pricing
First, it’s important to understand the basics of pricing. When you’re setting your rates as a freelance designer, it’s important to consider the amount of time, energy, and skill that goes into the project. Make sure to charge a rate that reflects the value of your work and not just an hourly rate. Think about the impact your work will have and charge accordingly.
Marketing Yourself
Make sure to create a portfolio of your work that showcases your skills and talents. You should also create a website that effectively markets your services. Additionally, it’s important to network and make connections with potential clients. Seriously. I can’t stress enough the immense value of networking. In fact, almost every single one of my big freelance jobs have come because I knew someone that knew someone that needed help. Or an agency owner knew me and had too much work on their plate and reached out to me to offload the work. Just networking alone can make you a 6 figure designer, but remember, you have to be able to deliver on the work you promise.
Adding tangential offers that make sense
Third, you should also consider offering additional services. You may be able to increase your income by offering additional services such as website design, logo design, or app development. These services can be very lucrative and can help you to increase your income.
Keep up with the industry
Fourth, you should also make sure to keep up with industry trends. Staying up to date on the latest design trends can help you to stay ahead of the competition and increase your income. This is now more important than ever with the increasing popularity of AI and the debates that rage online (especially from creatives) on if you should be using it or not. Personally, I view it as a fantastic tool to supplement your work and basically act as a copilot. It’s not going to output completed work for you, but it will help your creativity and output volume.
Finally, you should also consider taking on larger projects. Taking on larger projects can help you to increase your income and gain more experience.
We hope this email has been helpful in providing you with some tips on how to increase your income as a freelance designer. Good luck!
